HEAD COACHING STAFF

Erik Morris

Varsity Head Coach

Coach Erik Morris, Varsity Head Coach, has spent his life in sports, playing baseball and hockey from a young age. Inspired by watching his father play professional baseball and later enter the National Baseball Hall of Fame, he developed a deep respect for the game.

Coach Morris played Division I baseball at Michigan State University and was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in his junior year. He ultimately chose to complete his civil engineering degree, start a family, and begin his coaching career.

He lives in the Forest Hills School District with his wife, Jennifer, and their four children. Coach Morris believes sports play a vital role in shaping young people and focuses on challenging athletes, building character, and teaching lessons that extend beyond the field.

He considers it an honor to coach and develop the next generation of leaders at FHC.

Jimmy Murray

JV Head Coach

Coach Murray is in his second year back at FHC as the JV Head Coach. A 2009 FHC graduate, he played four years of varsity baseball as a catcher and outfielder. After college, he began coaching at FHC under Hall of Fame coach Thad Abel for seven years before moving to Cornerstone University as JV Head Coach and outfield coach.

Coach Murray emphasizes strong fundamentals and a love for the game.

Professionally, he works as a licensed counselor in the Grand Rapids area. In the summer, he and his wife can often be found at a softball field or a West Michigan Whitecaps game.

Coach Murray is excited to be back at FHC and part of the Ranger community.

Paul Grady

Freshman Head Coach

Coach Grady has spent more than 28 years coaching youth and high school baseball, primarily at the Freshman and JV levels. A West Michigan native, he played basketball and baseball at West Catholic High School before graduating from Ferris State University in 1986 with a degree in Accounting and a minor in Finance.

Known for his energy and mentorship, Coach Grady focuses on developing both strong players and strong character. His perseverance is reflected in his journey living with Parkinson’s disease, and he proudly supports the Michigan Parkinson Foundation while raising awareness for the condition.

Outside of baseball, he owns and operates a logistics company in the Grand Rapids area. Coach Grady and his wife Carolyn—known as “The Real Coach”—have been married for 38 years and raised three sons who all played baseball at FHC. He is also the proud grandfather of four grandsons and hopes to one day coach them as well.
